How much of Paper 3 is economics versus business environment?

ICSI has not published a fixed split, but the syllabus divides roughly evenly between the two sections. The economics half is more technical; the business environment half is more descriptive and rewards clear structure.

Is prior commerce study needed for this paper?

No. Paper 3 starts from first principles and is written for students entering straight from Class 12 in any stream. Students from non-commerce backgrounds usually find the macroeconomics and national income sections need the most practice.
