CSEET is the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test - the entry gate to the CS Executive Programme, which replaced the old CS Foundation Programme. Any candidate who has passed or is appearing in the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination can register.
CSEET, the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test, is the gateway to the CS Executive Programme, and it changed shape completely from the June 2026 session. ICSI restructured it into four papers of 100 marks each, moved it out of remote-proctored mode and into physical examination centres, and made three of the four papers descriptive. Any candidate who has passed or is appearing in Class 12, from any stream, can register, so CSEET is often the very first professional exam a student ever attempts. Preparation material written for the old all-MCQ CSEET, or for the CS Foundation Programme it replaced, will actively mislead you now. ClearLevel's CSEET mock tests follow the restructured pattern, and every attempt ends with an AI-generated report instead of a bare score.
The restructured test is Business Communication, Fundamentals of Accounting, Economic and Business Environment, and Business Laws and Management. The first three are descriptive papers of three hours each, which means you write full answers rather than picking options, and format marks in business correspondence and presentation marks in accounting are real marks that students used to objective practice simply leave on the table. The fourth is the only OMR paper, two hours, and it merges what were two separate papers under the old CS Foundation Programme: Business Laws carries 60 marks and Business Management 40. Note also that auditing, which sat alongside accounting in the old programme, is no longer part of the entrance test at all.
ICSI has confirmed there is no negative marking in the OMR paper, Business Laws and Management. That single fact should change how you attempt it: a wrong answer costs nothing, so leaving a question blank can only lose you marks and can never save any. Eliminate what you can, commit to an option on every question, and budget the last few minutes purely for transferring answers onto the OMR sheet carefully, which is a step remote-proctored testing never required. Practising Business Laws and Management mock tests under a strict two-hour clock is the fastest way to make that pacing automatic rather than something you think about during the real paper.
Two places, consistently. The first is Fundamentals of Accounting, which is often the first real accounting paper a non-commerce student has attempted, and it is now descriptive, so you have to show working rather than recognise a correct figure among four options. The second is Business Communication, which students assume is the easy paper because they speak English fluently, then lose marks on precis writing, sentence correction, and the standard layouts for letters, memos, notices and minutes. Both reward timed writing practice specifically, not general revision. Economic and Business Environment sits in between: the economics half is technical, the business environment half rewards clear structure over recall.
A bare score does not tell you whether marks were lost to accounting, to communication, or simply to running out of time, and each needs a completely different fix. ClearLevel's AI grades every response the moment you submit and returns a full report: accuracy by section, time spent per question against a sensible benchmark, and a breakdown of careless slips versus genuine conceptual gaps, along with your percentile rank against every other CSEET candidate who attempted the same paper. For a first professional exam this specificity matters more than it will later, because it is often the first structured read a student gets on how they actually perform under real exam pressure.
The restructured CSEET runs three times a year, in the first week of June, October and February, at designated centres. To pass you need 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate, in one sitting - there is no exemption and no carry-forward of marks, so a strong paper cannot rescue a weak one across sessions. It is also worth knowing that many candidates do not need CSEET at all: graduates and post-graduates from any stream, CA Intermediate pass students, CMA Final pass students and old CS Foundation pass students are exempt and can register directly for CS Executive. If that applies to you, check it before spending a session on the entrance test.
