Business Laws was my weakest area. ClearLevel's notes are structured exactly like ICAI wants — point-form answers for subjective questions. Got 52 in Paper 2 which I'm happy with given where I started. Overall solid coaching.

The Quantitative Aptitude sessions literally saved me. I had zero confidence in Maths but after working through all the practice sets here, I scored 71 in Paper 3. The structured approach to Permutations and Statistics topics is excellent.

Cleared CA Foundation with 63% in first attempt. ClearLevel's Accounts lectures are the real deal — the faculty explains journal entries with real business scenarios, not just textbook theory. Paper 1 was my highest scorer because of this approach.

CA Foundation 2026 — What the Exam Actually Looks Like

CA Foundation is the entry gate to the Chartered Accountancy programme run by ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). Under the 2023 New Scheme — now fully in effect — the exam has four papers spread across two days, with a mix of subjective and objective formats.

The next major attempt is November 2026. Registration closes in June 2026, and you must have passed Class 12 before the exam date. Students who register now have approximately five months of preparation time — enough, if used correctly.

Paper-Wise Breakdown (2023 New Scheme)

  • Paper 1 — Principles and Practice of Accounting (100 marks, Subjective): Double entry system, partnership accounts, company accounts, and Accounting Standards 1–29. Commerce students typically find this the most scoring paper.
  • Paper 2 — Business Laws (100 marks, Subjective): Indian Contract Act 1872, Sale of Goods Act 1930, Partnership Act 1932, and LLP Act 2008. Answers must mirror ICAI's language closely.
  • Paper 3 — Quantitative Aptitude (100 marks, Objective MCQ): Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics. No negative marking — attempt every question.
  • Paper 4 — Business Economics (100 marks, Objective MCQ): Micro and macro economics, demand-supply, Indian economy fundamentals. No negative marking.

Pass Rate Reality Check

In the November 2025 attempt, CA Foundation recorded a pass percentage of approximately 27–30%. That means roughly 7 in 10 students do not clear it on their first try. Papers 1 and 2 (subjective) cause the most failures — not because of conceptual difficulty, but because students underestimate the writing speed and answer presentation required.

Preparation Strategy That Actually Works

  • Begin Papers 1 and 3 simultaneously — both are practice-driven and reinforce each other
  • For Paper 2 (Laws), read only ICAI Study Material — copied language scores better in subjective marking
  • Attempt all ICAI MTPs and RTPs in the last 6 weeks; they are the closest indicators of actual difficulty
  • Target 6–8 hours of study daily for a minimum of 4 months
  • Mock tests under exam conditions (3-hour timed sessions) starting 45 days before the exam

After CA Foundation

On clearing Foundation, you can register for CA Intermediate and must also register for Articleship with a practising CA. The minimum gap between Foundation and the next Intermediate attempt is 8 months, giving you a defined study window.

Frequently asked questions

Everything about CA Foundation classes on ClearLevel

ICAI typically closes Foundation registration by the last week of June for the November attempt. Students must register at least 4 months before the exam date. Check icai.org for the exact notification — deadlines are published 3–4 months in advance.

No. You must pass Class 12 from a recognised board before appearing in CA Foundation. However, you can register for Foundation after Class 10 and use the time to prepare, appearing only after your Class 12 result is declared.

No. Papers 3 (Quantitative Aptitude) and 4 (Business Economics) are objective MCQ-based with no negative marking. You should attempt every question regardless of certainty — even a random guess gives you a 25% chance of scoring.

You must score a minimum of 40% in each paper individually, and an aggregate of 50% across all four papers. If you score below 40% in even one paper, you fail the attempt entirely regardless of your aggregate — paper-wise passing is mandatory.

CA Foundation is conducted twice a year — in May/June and November/December. There is no restriction on the number of attempts. If you fail, you can re-appear in the next attempt without re-registering, provided your registration is still valid (3 years).
