ACCA Applied Knowledge 2026 — The Fastest Entry Point into Global Accounting
ACCA Applied Knowledge is the first stage of the ACCA qualification, consisting of 3 computer-based exams (CBEs) available on-demand throughout the year at ACCA-approved test centres. You book your exam date directly, sit it within days, and receive provisional results immediately. This is the most flexible exam window in any professional accounting programme.
The three papers are:
- BT — Business and Technology (F1): Business environment, organisational behaviour, IT systems, and professional ethics in a business context. Objective and scenario-based MCQs. Most students with any business or commerce background clear this in 4–6 weeks of preparation.
- FA — Financial Accounting (F2): Double entry bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements, IAS/IFRS basics, and consolidation fundamentals. The most content-heavy of the three Knowledge papers — accounting students find it straightforward; non-accountants need 6–8 weeks.
- MA — Management Accounting (F3): Costing methods, budgeting, variance analysis, and decision-making tools. High overlap with CMA Foundation Costing content. MBA Finance students typically find this the most familiar.
How the CBE Format Works
Applied Knowledge CBEs are computer-based, available year-round at ACCA Platinum and Gold Approved Learning Partners and Prometric test centres across India. You book online at myACCA, choose your date (usually available within 1–2 weeks), sit the 2-hour exam, and see your provisional pass/fail result on screen immediately. Detailed results follow within 48 hours.
Passing Score and Realistic Timeline
You need 50% to pass each paper. Global pass rates for Knowledge papers are 60–70% — the highest in the ACCA qualification. Most students with a commerce or business background clear all three Knowledge papers within 3–4 months. Non-commerce students may need 4–5 months, with extra time on FA (Financial Accounting).
Exemptions — Who Can Skip Applied Knowledge?
Graduates from ACCA-approved universities (many Indian universities qualify) and holders of specific qualifications may receive exemptions from some or all Knowledge papers. Check the ACCA exemption calculator on accaglobal.com — entering your exact qualification tells you which papers you are exempt from. Qualified CAs (ICAI) are exempt from all Applied Knowledge papers.
