A CMA test series is a structured set of papers you attempt under exam conditions and submit for evaluation, covering either one paper chapter by chapter or a full group of a level. On ClearLevel the series for CMA Foundation, Intermediate and Final are written to the current ICMAI pattern by practising faculty, who check your answer sheet themselves and return it with marks and remarks against what you actually wrote. Series are sold by group and by subject, so you can practise a whole group or target the one paper that keeps costing you the attempt.
Why CMA rewards method, not memory
The CMA course is built around costing, management accounting and the numbers behind a decision. Those papers are marked on method: whether the working is laid out, whether the format is right, whether the figure you arrived at is traceable. A student who knows the concept but presents a cost sheet badly loses marks that a student with identical knowledge keeps.
That gap never shows up during revision, because revision is reading and the loss happens in writing. It shows up the first time someone else marks your working - which is what an evaluated series exists to arrange, early enough that you can still change how you present.
Series by level
CMA Foundation runs four papers covering business laws and communication, financial and cost accounting, business mathematics and statistics, and business economics and management. It is an objective-format level, so practice is about accuracy, speed and coverage rather than presentation.
CMA Intermediate runs eight papers across two groups, spanning laws and ethics, financial accounting, direct and indirect taxation, cost accounting, operations and strategic management, corporate accounting and auditing, financial management and analytics, and management accounting. Eight papers is a lot of surface area, and chapter-wise series are the practical answer: close each portion as you finish it rather than carrying the whole group into a final revision.
CMA Final also runs eight papers, including corporate and economic laws, strategic financial management, direct tax and international taxation, strategic cost management, cost and management audit, corporate financial reporting, indirect tax laws and strategic performance management with valuation. The questions are application-led and the marks sit in structured working, which is exactly what an evaluated paper can tell you about and a read-through cannot.
Group-wise and subject-wise series
ICMAI examines Intermediate and Final by group, and the series here follow the same shape. A group series keeps your practice proportional across every paper you are actually sitting. A subject-wise series is the better buy when one paper - strategic cost management, say, or taxation - is the one deciding your result.
Chapter-wise papers belong in the middle of preparation, while the syllabus is still being covered. Full-group papers belong in the closing weeks, when the task is producing a whole group's worth of answers under time pressure rather than learning new material.
How evaluation works
An unchecked paper teaches you very little. The series listed here are evaluated by the faculty who run them, or by their evaluation team, and the sheet comes back with marks and remarks against your actual answers rather than a bare total. On costing papers that commentary usually lands on the working rather than the answer, which is where the marks were.
Detailed solution PDFs accompany every paper, so you can compare your format and working against a model one, and the series that include video walkthroughs cover the questions most attempts get wrong. Turnaround time and the exact format of the feedback are set by each faculty and described on the individual series page.
Choosing a CMA test series
Filter by your level and group first, then weigh who is checking your papers, how many papers you get, and how long access lasts. For CMA, look specifically for evaluation that comments on presentation and working rather than only totalling the final figure - that is where the recoverable marks are.
The ratings on each series come from students who bought from the same faculty. If you are still deciding, attempt a free CMA mock test first: one timed paper costs you nothing and tells you more than another week of revision.
Which pattern do these papers follow?
Papers are written to the latest pattern published by ICMAI for the relevant level, using original questions authored by the faculty running each series. They are independent practice material prepared for students sitting the ICMAI exams - not official institute papers, and not reproductions of ICMAI study material or past question papers. For the official syllabus and announcements, go to the ICMAI website directly.
