Integrated Business Solutions is the paper that did not exist under the old scheme, and it is the one students most often underestimate. It is a 100-mark open-book, multidisciplinary case study paper in Group 2. There is no fresh syllabus to learn - every topic is drawn from the other five Final papers plus Strategic Management. What is new is the format: long business scenarios that refuse to tell you which subject they belong to.

What the paper actually tests

Reading a 4-6 page business case and identifying which issues are reporting, which are audit, which are tax, and which are strategic
Applying Ind AS, Standards on Auditing, direct and indirect tax law and AFM techniques to the same set of facts without treating them as separate questions
Strategic Management concepts - competitive analysis, strategic choice, digital transformation and risk - integrated into the commercial narrative
Writing a structured, decision-useful answer for a board or management audience rather than a textbook answer

Why open book does not mean easy

You may carry permitted material, but there is no time to look anything up you do not already know - the constraint is comprehension speed, not recall
Marks come from identification and integration; a technically perfect answer to the wrong issue scores nothing
Case-reading and answer-planning discipline is the single biggest differentiator, which is why timed case practice matters more here than in any other Final paper

How to prepare

Do not start IBS until FR, Audit, DT, IDT and AFM are at a working level - it is a synthesis paper, not a first pass
