CA Final Paper 6 - Integrated Business Solutions

Integrated Business Solutions is the paper that did not exist under the old scheme, and it is the one students most often underestimate. It is a 100-mark open-book, multidisciplinary case study paper in Group 2. There is no fresh syllabus to learn - every topic is drawn from the other five Final papers plus Strategic Management. What is new is the format: long business scenarios that refuse to tell you which subject they belong to.

What the paper actually tests

• Reading a 4-6 page business case and identifying which issues are reporting, which are audit, which are tax, and which are strategic
• Applying Ind AS, Standards on Auditing, direct and indirect tax law and AFM techniques to the same set of facts without treating them as separate questions
• Strategic Management concepts - competitive analysis, strategic choice, digital transformation and risk - integrated into the commercial narrative
• Writing a structured, decision-useful answer for a board or management audience rather than a textbook answer

Why open book does not mean easy

• You may carry permitted material, but there is no time to look anything up you do not already know - the constraint is comprehension speed, not recall
• Marks come from identification and integration; a technically perfect answer to the wrong issue scores nothing
• Case-reading and answer-planning discipline is the single biggest differentiator, which is why timed case practice matters more here than in any other Final paper

How to prepare

• Do not start IBS until FR, Audit, DT, IDT and AFM are at a working level - it is a synthesis paper, not a first pass
• Practise full-length cases under exam timing, then review what you failed to spot rather than what you got wrong
• Build a personal checklist of issue triggers so scanning a case becomes systematic instead of intuitive
