CS Foundation Paper 4 — Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing

FAA is a 100-mark objective MCQ paper testing the accounting cycle and introductory audit concepts. For CS students who are not from a commerce background, this is typically the most challenging Foundation paper. For commerce students, it is the most straightforward — covering exactly what they studied in Class 11–12 Accounts.

• Audit process — Planning, evidence, internal controls, audit documentation
• Audit report — Unqualified, qualified, adverse, and disclaimer of opinion
• Relevance of auditing for company secretaries — Coordination between auditor and CS in annual filing compliance

The CS-Accounting Connection

CS professionals need enough accounting literacy to review financial statements, verify regulatory compliance (SEBI disclosures, annual return accuracy, dividend calculations), and advise the Board on financial matters.
